HW Assignment for Math 537

This page will give a complete listing of the reading and homework assignments that you are required to do. In addition, Exam and Final dates will be listed. Most problems will be worked in WeBWorK. For WeBWorK students will login using their last name with a capital first letter and their Red ID number for a password. (Logins are case sensitive!) There are a few exceptions which can be found on WeBWorK Login Information. For example, suppose your name is Henri Poincare with Red ID number 314159265. Then you login with:

Username: Poincare
Password: 314159265

There is a Lab Manual (MATLAB and Maple) version, which will continue to be updated over the semester with detailed information for using MatLab and Maple on your assignments. For those interested in purchasing Maple, you can access the Maple adoption sheet through this hyperlink. MatLab can be downloaded from SDSU. Useful MatLab graphing template (graph_plot.m).

Week 7: There are lecture notes for Method of Frobenius (4-Panel).
Take-Home Exam 1: Take-Home Exam is available, which is due Mon, Oct 21 in class.
HW4 assignment: WeBWorK called power, which is due Wed, Nov 6 at 4 AM. The primary set of problems are the written problems, HW 4 on Method of Frobenius, which are due Wed, Nov 6 in class.

Week 8-9: There are lecture notes for Perturbation Methods (4-Panel), including some MatLab programs - duff_plot.m, duff_tsplot.m, sec_duff_plot.m., duffDE.m,
Solutions: Solutions for HW 3 are available.

Week 10-12: There are lecture notes for Singular Perturbation (4-Panel), including some MatLab programs - MMesp_plot.m, MMespS_plot.m, MMspode.m, MMspxoode.m.
HW5 assignment: There are a set of problems, HW 5 on Regular Perturbation Methods, which are due Mon, Nov 25 in class.

Week 13-15: There are lecture notes for the Method of Averaging (4-Panel).
HW6 assignment: There are a set of problems, HW 6 on Singular Perturbation Methods, which are due Wed, Dec 18.
Solutions: Solutions for Take-Home Exam 1 are available (missing part of last problem solution, to be completed soon).
Take-Home Final: There are a set of problems, Take-Home Final (complete with 4 problems, but one more round of proofreading tonight), which are due Wed, Dec 18.

Week 1: There are lecture notes for an Introduction (4-Panel) and Linear Differential Equations and Scaling (4-Panel). There is supplemental material for using Maple from the Introduction to Maple Commands (Maple .mw).
HW Review assignment: WeBWorK called ReviewM337, which is due Wed, Sep 11 at 4 AM. For a Review of Math 337, notes are available through my Math 337 web site.

Week 2: There are lecture notes for a Linear Differential Equations and Scaling (4-Panel).
HW1 assignment: WeBWorK called linscale, which is due Fri, Sep 13 at 4 AM. In addition, there are written problems, HW 1 on 1st Order Linear ODEs, which are due Fri, Sep 13 in class.

Week 3: There are lecture notes for Fundamental Solutions (4-Panel).
HW2 assignment: There are homework problems, HW 2 on Scaling Linear ODEs, which are due Fri, Sep 20 in class.

Week 4-5: There are lecture notes for Fundamental Solutions (4-Panel).
HW3 assignment: WeBWorK called fundamental, which is due Fri, Oct 4 at 4 AM. In addition, there are written problems, HW 3 on Matrices and Fundamental Solutions, which are due Fri, Oct 4 in class.

Week 6: There are lecture notes for Power Series (4-Panel).
