This page will give a complete listing of the reading and homework assignments that you are required to do. A link to WeBWorK is provide.

Week 12: Read Chapter 14 Sections 1-7 on Functions of a Complex Variable. There is a Take Home Exam 2 available, which will be due Wednesday, May 2. Solutions are available for HW7. There is an updated link to the current grades in class.
HW Assignment #8: Work Problems: 14.2:12, 15, 24 , 14.3: 6, 14.7: 1, 10, 12, 16, 30, 45, 50.

These problem are due Monday, May 7.

Week 14: Read Chapter 14 Sections 1-7 on Functions of a Complex Variable. There is a Take Home Final available, which will be due Friday, May 11.
Solutions are available for HW8. Solutions are available for Take Home Exam 2 . Solutions are available for Take Home Final .

Assignments from Earlier:

Week 1: We begin with a Review of Material from Math 342A. Read Chapter 11 in the text. This chapter introduces Special Functions. There will be a WeBWorK assignment that is a review of material from Math 342A to go over some of the highlights of that course and to get you used to WeBWorK.
HW Assignment #1: Work the WeBWorK Problems.
These problem are due Thursday, Feb. 2.

Week 3: We continue Chapter 11 in the text on Special Functions. Hyperlinks are provided to Maple worksheets for the Gamma function and Elliptic functions along with a MatLab code of the full Pendulum equation. (Sheets developed by R. Carretero.) Also, a reference from the text on trajectories on the Earth using Elliptic functions.
HW Assignment #2: Work Problems: 11.3: 9, 10, 11, 12, 11.5: 1, 11.7: 2, 4, 9, 11.8: 3, 11.11: 3, 11.12: 1, 9, 17.

These problem are due Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Week 4: We begin Chapter 12 in the text on Series Solutions of Differential Equations. Solutions are available for HW2.
HW Assignment #3: Work Problems: 12.1: 1, 2, 4, 9 , 12.2: 2, 3, 12.5: 4, 5, 12.

These problem are due Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Week 6: We complete Chapter 12 in the text on Series Solutions of Differential Equations and begin Chapter 13 on Partial Differential Equations.
HW Assignment #4: Work Problems: 12.9: 3, 5, 11, 13, 15 , 12.11: 1, 5, Method of Frobenius Problem, 12.12: 2, 12.13: 3, 12.14: 1, 3, 12.15: 1, 4, 12.16: 2, 6, 12.18: 10.
These problem are due Wednesday, Mar. 7.

Week 7: There is a Take Home Exam 1 available, which will be due Monday, Mar. 12. The first Midterm Exam is Wednesday, Mar. 14. It will be based heavily on the problems on the Take Home Exam. You are allowed one sheet of paper (both sides) with any information you want to include. Solutions are available for HW3, and solutions are available for HW4.

Week 8: Read Chapter 7 Sections 1-9 on Fourier Series. Solutions for Take-Home Exam 1.
HW Assignment #5: Work Problems: 7.5: 2, 7, 11, 7.8: 11a, 7.9: 6, 10. For all of these problems, create 5 graphs of the Fourier series on a computer with n = 1, 2, 3, 10, and 20 terms of the series.
These problem are due Wednesday, Mar. 21.

Week 9: Read Chapter 13 Sections 1-7 on Partial Differential Equations. There is a link to the current grades in class.
HW Assignment #6: Work Problems: 13.2: 3, 10, Other PDE problems.
These problem are due Wednesday, Apr.4.

Week 10: Continue Chapter 13 Sections 1-7 on Partial Differential Equations. There are lecture notes available for the PDEs. Solutions are available for HW5 and HW6.
HW Assignment #7: Work Problems: Higher Dimensional PDE problems.
These problem are due Wednesday, Apr.18.
