Math 636 - Project Information

The Projects will account for 20-25% of your grade. The oral presentation is graded by your peers and accounts for 1/3 of the project grade. The written part of the project is due Friday, Dec. 17 (under my office door) by NOON and is worth 2/3 of the project grade.

Students are expected to write a report on the project. The written report that should be approximately 20-25 pages (including graphics, but programs and other appendices are outside the 20 pages). The written part of the project should have:

  1. Background material on the literature and significance of the project.
  2. Development of the mathematical model or a survey of a collection of relevant models.
  3. Discussion on the relevant mathematical theory that applies.
  4. Some original work on your own for either extending the model or performing simulations.
  5. Discussion and conclusions to summarize your work.

Student Ordering of Projects

The oral presentations should be 15-17 minutes long. We will have a few minutes for questions, then the next speaker will start.
